The community area Schönwalde-Glien with the villages Grünefeld, Paaren im Glien, Pausin, Perwenitz, Wansdorf, Schönwalde-Siedlung and Schönwalde-Dorf borders immediately onto the north-western fringe of Berlin Spandau. On an area of over 96 km² - of those ca 40 km²  forest - live and work ca 8200 citizens (July 2004). In wide parts the community Schönwalde-Glien is part of the "Ländchen Glien", whose landscape is being formed by flat meadow at the fringe and in the central part by a plateau with pine woods and mixed deciduous forests, the "Krämer Forst".
